Use citric acid to pickle (acidify) a hide to prepare for bark-tanning or mineral tanning.

This is enough citric acid for 10 gallons of water - one or two hides.

Recipe for pickling:

  • 3 oz of citric acid

  • 1 lb of salt

  • combine in 1 gallon of warm water and dissolve

  • scale up the recipe as large as you need to submerge a hide.

  • This package is enough citric acid for 5 gallons of water, good for one medium sized hide or two to three small pelts.
