This is 15oz of citric acid, used for acidifying (“pickling”) hides, a preparatory step in hide tanning. You can acidify a hide to help a fur rug hold its hair + to get your barktan leathers off to a good start.

Recipe for acidifying:

  • 3 oz of citric acid

  • 1 lb of salt

  • combine in 1 gallon of warm water and dissolve

  • scale up the recipe as large as you need to submerge a hide.

  • This package is enough citric acid for 5 gallons of water, good for one medium sized hide or two to three small pelts.
