Winter Medicine: wreath-making + winter traditions farm party

CA$47.00

Evergreen boughs, aromatic plants, warming spices. Harvesting, crafting, and preserving. They are winter folk traditions with millennia of homage behind them.

Come to Anneth Farm in North Saanich to make your own holiday wreath, from local plants. While you assemble your wreath, you’ll learn the origins of winter plant medicine and the folk lores + superstitions from the darkest time of the year.

For millennia people have hunkered together through the winter, bringing aromatic plants indoors and brewing mulled beverages. The plants, the stories, the crafting, and the gathering are all winter medicines.

  • Learn some of the oldest histories of holiday plant ethnobotany; why we love bringing conifers, holly, and hawthorn into our homes during the darkest part of the year.

  • Make a classic holiday wreath using plants we’ve harvested for you from our farm - ethically sourced, zero plastics, and naturally fragrant.

  • Walk away with a richer appreciation for the dark season, plus your handmade wreath

This is a licensed event. Get yourself a glass of wine, cider, or honey gruit - $7 in advance, $9 at the event. All drinks are from local Saanich cideries and wineries.

Bring a friend + bring a notepad if you want to dive deep on plant knowledge, or just listen while you sip and craft. 🍷 🎄
